On
the the Microsoft windows Operating system, the Run… command is used to
directly open an application.
Starting
with windows 95, the Run command is accessible through the start menu and also
through the short-cut key “Windows Key + R”. The input field in the dialog wil
show roughly 40-45 characters (when using Regional Language Setting of “English
(United States )”
and running windows XP although more characters than this can be entered.
Although
the Run command is still present in Windows Vista and Windows 7, it no longer
appears directly on the Start Menu by default, in favor of the new search box.
- Add
Run Command in Start Menu (Applies to Windows 7)
The
Run command no longer appears on the Start menu in this version of Windows
(Windows 7). The search box that appears on the Start menu provides much of the
same functionality as the Run command. However, the Run command is still
available if you prefer to use it. You can even add it to the Start menu for
easier access.
To
add the Run command to the Start menu
- Open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Taskbar and Start Menu.
- Click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.
- In the list of Start menu options, select the Run command check box, and then click OK. The Run command will be displayed on the right side of the Start menu.
Tip
You
can also access the Run command by pressing the Windows logo key +R.
USES OF RUN COMMAND
Uses
include bringing up webpage & applications. For Example, if a user types a
web address in the Run box field, the user’s default Web Browser would open
that page.
